Current Awareness Services usually fall into three categories:

TOC: You receive tables of contents from periodicals of your choice.

Alerting: You specify search terms in a database. Searches are automatically run at specified intervals and results are sent to you via e-mail.

RSS Feeds: You receive notifications regarding the web content you wish to track.
