What is Booklet Creator ?
Booklet Creator is a web-based program (http://www.bookletcreator.com) that allows you to create a booklet from a Microsoft Word document. It creates standard booklets only (not tri-folds). The first step is to create the booklet. If you do not have a program (e.g. Acrobat Professional) that allows you to write directly to a PDF file, you will need to create the booklet using a program such as Microsoft Word, then convert it to a PDF file. Please follow the procedure below.
Create the Word Document:
Create the document in Microsoft Word (or use an existing document). The document should not be separated into columns, but should be created as a standard Word document and should be portrait-orientated (not landscape).
Convert the Document to a PDF File: *
- Open the Word document you created in Step 1.
- From the File menu, choose Print.
- Under Printer Name, choose \\Tiberius\PDFprinter, then click OK.
- When the PDF file opens on your screen, click the Save button, specify the file name and choose the location, then click Save.
* Please Note: The PDF converter (PDFprinter) is available only from within JCU. If you are working outside the university, you will need to convert using a different utility.
Create the Booklet:
- Open your browser and go to the web site (http://www.bookletcreator.com).
- Under Choose a PDF File: click the Browse button to find the PDF file you created in Step 2, then click Open.
- Click on Create Booklet.
- You will be asked if you want to open or save the file.
- If you just want to open the booklet and print it, click on Open. Otherwise click on Save and specify a file location.
Print the Booklet (Double-Sided Printer):
- From the File menu, choose Print.
- Select your printer, then click on Properties.
- Click the Finishing tab.
- Under Document Options, click in the boxes to select Print on Both Sides and Flip pages up.
- Click OK, then OK again.
Print the Booklet (Single-Sided Printer):
- From the File menu, choose Print and select your printer (if necessary).
- Under Print Range, click to select All.
- In the drop-down list under Subset:, choose Odd pages only, then click OK to print.
- Keeping the pages in the same order, put them back into the paper tray of the printer and print the even pages on the other side (choose Even pages only). *
* Please Note: You may need to do some testing first to see how to load the paper in order to print correctly on the reverse side
